What Are Your Dance Resolutions for 2021?

We’ve reached the home stretch of 2020, and it’s the perfect time to start thinking of goals for the new year. Beyond just writing them down and wishing for them to come true, if you want to achieve what you set your mind to, you have to take some time to think and plan how you’re going to make that happen. After all, as dancers, we can only evolve through hard work and dedication.

There’s no denying that we’ve all been anxiously awaiting for a new year to start. A clean slate with new opportunities, challenges, and dreams. Here are some dance goal suggestions to help shape your 2021.

Prioritize Your Health

Health is essential, and this year has made sure we keep that in mind. Take good care of your mind, emotions, body, and spirit. Putting your health at the top of your priority list will help you perform better in all areas of life, not just on the dance floor.

Take Your Moves Outside the Studio

A big part of your growth as a dancer will happen at the dance studio, but your skills will come with you wherever you go. Don’t be afraid to put those skills to the test in a different setting. Feel free to dance at home and anywhere else where you feel like dancing. Pushing those limits will contribute to your growth and confidence as a dancer.

Turn Your Fears into Opportunities

Often, our fears manifest in the form of negative thoughts that sabotage our progress. This new year, try to turn your worries into constructive thoughts. Instead of thinking: “I can’t do it,” think: “with more practice, I will do it.” Instead of thinking: “Being in the front terrifies me, so I better stay in the back,” think: “this might help me improve my confidence.” Dominating your fears will open up many new opportunities for growth.

4 Traits You Learn on the Dance Floor

Dancing Can Teach You These Valuable Lessons

There are many reasons why people enroll in dance classes. Whether your initial motivation was to be active, learn a new hobby, make new friends, or burn some calories, there is more to dance than those benefits.

One of the great things about dancing is that it teaches you many things beyond cool dance moves. Many of these lessons apply on and off the dance floor.  Here are four valuable lessons you can learn from dance.

Trust Your Instincts

When improv sessions happen, doesn’t it feel amazing to allow your body to do what it naturally feels like doing? Your instinct will often take you places that you wouldn’t have experienced otherwise and will help you stay true to yourself.

Allow Your Creativity to Flow

When you’re learning dance steps, you can quickly get used to mimicking what the person in front is doing, but once that person is no longer there, you need to trust yourself and bring your personality into it. Your creativity is what will set you apart from your fellow dancers, even if you’re all moving to the same beat.

Don’t Be Afraid to Make Mistakes

Perfection puts a cap on your creativity. Vulnerability, on the other hand, can give it a boost.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes or to take risks. Sometimes, the most amazing things come from unexpected results or from pushing the edge a little bit.

Persevere

You don’t need to measure yourself by anyone else’s standard. Follow your own path. It’s ok to go slow, take breaks, or stop and then resume if you need to. But never give up. When you do something you love, you’ll find the strength to keep going even when it gets hard. Whether it’s out of discipline, determination, or motivation, keep moving forward.

6 Great Benefits of Vinyasa Yoga

There are many types of yoga, and they are all different. Vinyasa yoga is one of the most popular, and it’s quite different from the rest. It also offers specific benefits.

Here are some of the many benefits that come from consistently practicing vinyasa yoga:

Everyone Can Do It

One of the most incredible things about this type of yoga is that anyone can do it. Even if you’re a beginner, you can feel free to dive in and start enjoying its benefits. Just be sure to tell your teacher if you’re a first-timer.

Yoga Stretches

Increases Strength and Stability

Even if it looks low impact, vinyasa yoga is a great workout. It’s excellent for building strong legs and core. Holding postures help you develop muscle strength and target specific muscles that help you stabilize your body.

Improves Your Mental Health

Vinyasa yoga is all about creating mindfulness and helping you develop a better connection with your body through breath and movement. It enables you to quiet your mind and relax your body, leading to less stress and anxiety.

Boosts Your Energy Levels

By taking care of your mental and physical health, your energy levels will increase, allowing you power through your daily tasks, feeling better throughout the day.

Promotes Weight Loss

With regular practice, vinyasa yoga can help tone your body and burn some calories. But most importantly, vinyasa yoga helps you learn to listen to your body and nourish it properly, rather than focus on dieting. Also, it trains your mind to be more aware of your thoughts and feelings; it can help neutralize emotional eating and develop a better relationship with food.

Helps Improve Your Focus

As your awareness increases, you’ll also learn to train your mind to push back on unwanted thoughts and be more focused, thanks to vinyasa yoga.

Join Us for a Virtual Showcase You Will Never Forget

When? December 12, 2020 at 8pm

Where? Online Event. Details below.

It’s been an entire year since we’ve been able to produce our Semi-Annual Studio Showcase, and we are thrilled to present over 60 of our students in our new virtual format.

We usually would cover costs by packing 300 family and friends into a theatre. Since we cannot do that this time around, we are asking our community to purchase a virtual ticket to support our studio and cover the costs of production.

Celebrate world dance and culture with us as we travel the globe presenting Belly Dance, Samba, Bollywood, Hula, Tahitian, Hip Hop, Afro-Caribe, and Classical Persian dance styles.

Bella Diva Dancers

This is your chance to indulge your temporarily stifled wanderlust and explore intercultural music, dance, costumes, stories, and traditions from distant places that will leave you feeling like a global citizen.

Online tickets will go on sale Saturday, December 12th. We will post the link on our Facebook event and social media. Once you purchase your ticket, we will send you an HD Vimeo Video link via email. The show will be available to watch for seven days. We realize you could share the link with others after registering, but we hope you will encourage family and friends to support our community and ask them to buy their own link.

Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible! Boy did we “pivot!”

XOXOXOXO
