Hawaiian Hula Dance musicbobbie2

Hot Hula Fitness® is danced to the sounds of traditional Polynesian drums fused with funky Reggae music. One of the strongest musical and movement influences of Hot Hula Fitness® is the traditional Hawaiian dance of Hula. Hawaiian Hula was a way of expressing and telling epic tales, stories, myths, history and philosophy of the islanders. The message was already being conveyed by poetic chants in ritual dances performed by men.

The chant was called Mele and the instruments originally used were sharkskin drums, rattles, gourds and castanets. Contemporary Hula Dance now includes other instruments like the ukelele, guitar and bass.
