It’s that time a year again, where Bella Diva Dance has the pleasure of showcasing our hardworking and talented students! Year in and year out, our talented students put up an amazing show with hours of effort, preparation and dedication. There are TWO opportunities to check them out this year.

“Teacher/Student Showcase”

You are invited to attend our intimate Teacher/Student Showcase which will feature our beautiful & talented students, many of whom will be dancing side by side with their teachers from their weekly classes at Bella Diva Dance. This event will feature solos, duets, small groups, and our professional company members. This will be a celebration of student creativity and collaboration while also preparing for our Semi-Annual Student Showcase that will be held Saturday June 11th at the D.L. Parson’s Theatre in Northglenn.

This show will be co-hosted by Naughty Pierre, Erin Anderson, and Caitlin Brozna-Smith.

Visiting Master Percussionist from Rio de Janeiro, JORGE ALABE, will be joining Ginga for a full evening of Samba Celebration! He will also be performing with Batería Alegría for a special mid-show performance!

Samba Colorado Dance Company will perform with the Bateria, and Luciana Martins Da Silva will perform a special showcase piece along with Bella Diva Dance!

Fresh Caipirinhas and a variety of traditional Brazilian food by Little Brazil will be available for purchase.

BellaDivaRisingMarch16thBella Diva Dance will once again be RISING in our community to help end violence against women. Started in 2012 as part of the “V-Day Movement” created by playwright Eve Ensler, One Billion Rising is a global campaign to end violence against women, rise for justice and promote gender equality. This is a year-long campaign that is more than a rally and rising on Feb. 14th!This show will be a fundraiser with all ticket sales going to the PIER INSTITUTE’s non-profit VERIFICA program. Underlying the horrors of human trafficking are the dark economics that supports all black markets. PIER Institute offers turn-key corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to reduce both the demand for forced labor and the supply of trafficked victims.
During the show, we will, of course, be entertaining you with our signature world dance styles, Belly Dance, Samba, & Bollywood! We will be having a special guest performing artist Sadakat Belly Dance, Heritage Irish Dance, & Mile High KINGdom. We will be hosted by our very own Pierre Jean Pierre.

Bella Diva Dance will be back for our 5th year at the Taste of Colorado this Labor Day weekend on the Heritage Cultural Stage performing “Around the World in 60 Minutes” downtown at Civic Center Park off Broadway & Colfax. You will experience Belly Dance, Brazilian Samba, Afro-Caribbean, Bollywood, Hula & Polynesian dancing. This performance is FREE to the public!

Festival of Mountain and Plain … A Taste of Colorado stands proud as the end-of-summer celebration of community pride and spirit in the Denver region.

Over 500,000 people make the four-day Festival their Labor Day Weekend celebration and enjoy the offerings of over 50 area food establishments, 250 marketplace artisans and vendors, six entertainment stages, and educational programs promoting the diverse cultural and western heritage of the region — all for no admission fee.

History

Originally named Festival of Mountain and Plain and established in 1895 as a carnival similar to New Orleans’ Mardi Gras, the Festival was created to boost the city’s morale and vitality following the silver panic. The event, unsuccessful in ending Denver’s depression and declining in attendance, folded in 1902 when organizers were unable to obtain financial support. In 1983, the Downtown Denver Partnership decided to bring back the spirit of the original Festival to commemorate the opening of the 16th Street Mall. The following year, A Taste of Colorado was added to the Festival of Mountain and Plain name and concept and moved back to Civic Center Park in Downtown Denver, where the event first began.

More than 50 of Coloradoans’ favorite restaurants and food establishments will gather at the Festival, featuring small portions to full meals. Bold indicates food items that are available in a one, two, three, or four ticket “taste” portion during this annual event.

This year is going to be the 40th Anniversary of Denver PrideFest which will be held June 20 & 21 at Civic Center Park.

Produced by the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of Colorado (The Center), Denver PrideFest is now the fourth largest pride festival, and seventh largest pride parade in the United States!

Bella Diva is so excited to be performing on the Main Stage Sat. June 20th, that we decided to hold a Pre-Pride Kickoff Party! Join us at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret as we celebrate all the colors of the rainbow through song & dance.

Kyle Kastner will be reprising his Samba Fusion anthem “Far Away”, local song writer & performer Joseph Lamar, drag king Gavin Danger, as well as your samba passistas dressing in drag to perform Malandro, a men’s samba styling. Hosted by Naughty Pierre Jean Pierre. This show will be a little more naughty than our normal fare, for ages 18+!

There will be plenty of audience participation, including trivia, group dancing, and prizes for best rainbow costume attire! Lannie’s will be creating special PrideFest cocktails including the “Rainbow Connection” and the “Diva Daiquiri”.

Don’t miss this show as it is sure to dazzle and amaze, and get us in the spirit for Denver Pridefest!

See Bella Diva this year on Center Stage at Denver PrideFest! This event is FREE to the public, and is held downtown at Civic Center Park off 14th and Broadway in the Coliseum. We will be celebrating all the colors of the rainbow!

Make a whole day of it and stay for the other events, including PRIDE Power Up Show, Dogs in Drag: Pet Costume Parade, Kidz PRIDE Parade, Drag Machine starring Shirley Delta Blow, Pitch Perfect: Kidz Karaoke, TRACKS Presents: Best of Drag Nation, Staxx Navy, Womyn’s Fest hosted by Debbie Scheer, Sam Hozdulick, Coles Whalen.

The Bella Diva Lineup will include our samba dancers in drag performing Malandro, Belly Dance, Afro-Caribe, Contortion, Bollywood, and of course Rio de Janeiro Samba with the Bella Diva Passistas!

Where: Bordered by the State Capitol, the City and County Building, and the Denver Art Museum, Civic Center Park is the centerpiece of Denver’s green space! Center Stage borders 14th Ave in between Broadway and Bannock.
