5 Reasons to Start Dancing as an Adult

We are excited to announce a new class offering at Bella Diva World Dance. Starting Sunday January 6th 10:15-11:15 AM, we will have a Classical Persian Dance Class for you and you are more than welcome to join us!

What is Classical Persian Dance?

Experience one of the world’s most enchanting dances. Persian dance is inspired by medieval Persian poetry, miniature artwork, sacred elements, animals, and geometry. Persian dance comes from an ancient culture of 8000 years and its movements often reflect the swirling of a birds, beautiful gesture and feelings, footwork patterns, and dazzling spins. Many great Persian poets extolled dance in their poems and used it as a symbol of the power of life and represented dance as a spiritual instrument to become one with the Divine. Persian classical dance is delicate, intricate, subtle, and full of meaning. Delicate hand movements, gentle upper body undulations, and facial expressions are the essential elements of this dance. The dance emphasizes feeling, rather than movement. The dancer tells a story, by displaying a variety of expressions.

This dance style is a fluid yet rhythmic dance form, which emphasizes the use of hands and wrists. The movement and positioning of the body reflect the rich and refined aesthetics of Persia. The focus of this beginner class will be on the shape of the hands, movement of the wrists and feet, isolation and coordination of arms and legs, and capturing the Persian aesthetics in the body line. Specific movement vocabulary will be presented and drilled in simple movement phrases that allow the dancer to integrate the technique and style into their body. This course is perfect for those new to Persian dance and seasoned Persian dancers who seek a foundational technique class to become more grounded in the style.
