Alina is a Colorado native with a long-standing passion for all styles of dance and expression through body movement. She began studying dance and musical theater at the age of six under the direction of Mary Ann Kehler as a member of the performance troupe, Showstoppers U.S.A. During her eight years of time with Showstoppers she trained in multiple dance styles, including , jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop and modern. Being a member of the troupe also allowed her to gain extensive performance experience by participating in a variety of events throughout Colorado, and also in New York and Washington D.C. After her time with Showstoppers she continued to explore her passion for dance and performance by participating in both her high-school and college dance teams and continued to train at a variety of dance studios throughout the Denver-metro area. While studying at the University of Denver she also began to challenge herself with other forms of body movement and fitness and began cross training in Nia, Zumba, and Vinyassa style yoga. She was also afforded the opportunity to study movement and performance improvisation at this time.
In 2008, Alina began to explore world and folkloric dance styles first studying Latin and African under Raquel Cecil, and then furthering her studies under Eulanda Shead Osagiede. From this exploration of world dance her passion for AfroCaribe was born, and in 2011 she became one of the first certified instructors in this exciting new dance-fitness style!
Afro-Caribe Unleashed is an exciting creation from Eulanda Shead Osagiede and Raquel Cecil… a natural outcropping of years spent deep in the practices of African & Latin Dance, passionate choreography& the thrill of teaching & performance.
