Bella Diva at the Athena Project‘s “Art Finds Us” on August 27th

Energetic woman embracing hip hop dance fitness at Bella Diva, shaking away stress with dynamic moves

This Thursday, August 27th, from 4-8 pm, Bella Diva World Dance will be participating in the Athena Project‘s “Art Finds Us” initiative! You will find our dancers spontaneously performing Persian and Bollywood dances on a traveling mobile stage in Denver’s District 7 & 10 in the Baker neighborhood.

For 2017, the American Academy of Arts & Sciences reported that only 24% of adults in the United States had visited a museum or gallery. That same year, the National Endowment for the Arts said 106.8 million people attended a performing arts event, with poetry/literary readings up 76% from 2012.

#ArtFindsUs provides the platform to engage all Denver residents, from the artists to longtime arts supporters to those who may have never stepped into a gallery or attended an arts event. We aim to add meaning to our city at this time and to be freely accessible to all.

Similarly to food banks, #ArtFindsUs will provide nourishment, a positive stimulus to Denver communities. When food is available and shared, it reduces stress, and community reinforced. In that vein, our goal is to bring people to their front yards or windows, connecting them with images or sounds that will resonate, filling them with hope. It will not compromise anyone’s health, is freely accessible, and is in motion. Like jazz, this is improvisation, an opportunity to create together, meeting the needs of this historic time.

Communities hardest hit, as well as organizations providing services to women, will be included on the routes. The program began in June and, with the support of our community and donations, will culminate in November during Denver Arts Week.

Boost Your Kids’ Coordination and Happiness Through Dance

Dance Can Help Your Child’s Development

When there’s music playing, even the littlest ones move to it. Dance is something that comes naturally. It’s a spontaneous response of the body to a musical stimulus, and it plays a significant role in a child’s development process.

Through dance, song, and musical games, children can learn a lot about what their bodies can do and how to interact with others.

It also helps them learn to control their body movements, develop strength and coordination.

Coordination is Learned, Not Inherited

Coordination is the ability to organize your movements to perform actions efficiently and smoothly. It is a vital skill for our everyday activities. Although some people may feel like they are “naturally” uncoordinated, good coordination is a skill developed over time, not something you have when you’re born.

It takes practice and dedication to develop good coordination. Anyone can improve it, no matter their age. However, it does come more naturally for those who are younger, like children. Through dance, children will develop and refine their motor skills, boosting their ability to coordinate their movements. Dance classes for children will also help improve spatial awareness. All this will translate into other physical activities like all kinds of sports, making them feel much more comfortable in that type of setting.

Is Your Child Ready to Begin Dance Lessons?

Developing Social Interaction Skills Can Make Children Feel Happier

As a type of physical activity, dance can provide a feeling of well-being and happiness. Not only after each session, but in general. Especially when it is something your children enjoy.

Dancing will give your children something to be excited about. It helps them build trust, learn to interact with others, boost their communication skills, minimize social anxiety, and develop relationships. Besides, dance is a creative and emotional outlet, which will help them improve their mood, put their imagination to work, and learn to channel their emotions healthily.
